Many Eaton UPS systems in the Series 5 range and higher support the addition of SNMP cards to relay critical data on UPS functioning to connected applications and personnel, even across the Internet (with secure access). These cards can be configured and monitored via a simple web browser interface, and include options to shut down equipment or power ports in the event of a power outage of specified duration. They can also be programmed to shut down and start up at specific times of day, send e-mail alerts (with access to a valid SMTP server) and interface with Eaton Software or third party SNMP logging applications.

With an SNMP card installed, an optional Environmental Monitoring Probe (EMP) may be added, to log changes in temperature and humidity to the SNMP service, or trigger shutdown actions on the UPS.
