The PTZ camera is certainly the most advanced type, and provides the widest range of viewing options in a single package. By rotating on the X and Y axes, the camera provides a "dome" of visibility encompassing the surrounding area. The lense can zoom in on points of interest at the same time as it sweeps.
These cameras are ideally a post or ceiling mount for large areas where a preset sweep provides adequate range of view. By combining the camera with motion-sensing options and alert mode recording, trigger events are captured for future analysis and personnel can be warned of an event in progress. Many of these cameras can also be mounted "upside down" to provide views of the area above-such as on a rooftop , with the picture flipped "rightside up" in the camera settings.
PTZ cameras can be pre-programmed for standard sweeps or manually controlled via the software or a web page interface. The latter option means the camera can be controlled via VPN or any computer on the network, providing the user is authorized, without the need for locally installed software.
The PTZ cameras are capable of configuration via the web page interface or DHCP server, and support wireless and Power over Ethernet options.
